Naive paintings in textile techniques
Artistic textiles perhaps one of the most common forms of non-easel naive art. The art of patterned embroidery and weaving has centuries-old customs as a traditional art craft.
Author's artistic textiles, as a phenomenon, originates in the second half of the twentieth century and reveals a variety of possibilities in the design of the fabric.
With any degree of confidence, naive art textiles can be called primarily female art, because it was women who through the centuries stretched their love for decorating everyday life with embroidery, knitting and weaving. Thus, the Russian folk art that had existed for centuries has found a response from modern authors, especially those who are sensitive to the folklore heritage.
The exhibition will feature 37 textile paintings from private collections, including the textile panels of Khristina Chuprakova from the collection of the Nizhnyaya Sinyachikha Museum-Preserve of Wooden Architecture and Folklore, the pile carpets of Nina Baranova and the knitted appliqué of Valentina Ponomareva.
The exhibition Naive paintings in textile techniques will be presented at the Museum of Naive Art from 30th of November until 10th of February.
